About Us
Located in Devizes, Wiltshire, Sixpenny Nursery provides a stimulating learning environment for all children. Founded in 1989, the nursery is based in a purpose-built setting at Roundway Hill Farm and is surrounded by acres of land, making it the perfect place for little ones that love nature. The nursery provides full time and part time care for children aged 0-5 year old.
Specialising in outdoor learning, Sixpenny Nursery adopts a ‘Forest School’ learning approach, where children can develop their skills uniquely, whilst encouraging conversation about the environment and the importance of appreciating our planet
The nursery is also a proud owner of Millie’s Mark, which is awarded as a special endorsement to childcare providers that go above and beyond minimum safety requirements by having 100% of staff trained in paediatric first aid.
Children are encouraged to take part in weekly music sessions, a variety of sports, cooking, and yoga, as well as participate in the nursery’s Forest School classes. These activities provide benefits for children such as: increasing a child’s confidence and self-esteem through exploration, problem solving, and being encouraged to learn how to assess and take appropriate risks depending on their environment.
In addition to extraordinary outdoor spaces, the nursery has a dedicated area where ‘Our People’ and the children can feed and care for animals such as pygmy goats, who are currently residing there! By providing children with this extraordinary opportunity brings a host of benefits such as: improving problem-solving skills, heightening the use of senses, promoting the development of language, understanding the life cycle and the world around us.
We are open from 7:30am - 6pm Monday to Friday for 51 weeks of the year (we are closed at Christmas and on bank holidays).
