Imaginative Thursday Nanny for Two Curious Girls in Westcliff-on-Sea
About Me
We are a lively, affectionate family in Westcliff-on-Sea with two daughters, aged three and one and a half, and a six-year-old working cocker spaniel. We are currently renovating our home, so life can be slightly chaotic, but it is warm, active and rarely dull. Parking is available.
Our three-year-old is chatty, a little cautious and hungry for information. She loves reading, crafts, animals, small-world and imaginative play, and wants to understand every detail of the world around her. Our one-and-a-half-year-old is hilarious, physically confident and busy finding her voice. She enjoys books, messy and small-world play, and is currently fascinated by taking things in and out of drawers.
Both girls attend a fully outdoor nursery three days a week and love being outside, making things, using their imaginations and visiting the aquarium near our home.
We combine warmth and meaningful choices with clear, consistent boundaries. We are screen-free except on special occasions and value books, open-ended play and learning through doing. We encourage the girls to be independent and believe they do not need to be entertained constantly, as a little boredom can spark imagination.
We both work on a hybrid basis, so one of us will generally be working from home on Thursdays.
My Requirements
We are looking for a warm, imaginative and dependable nanny to care for our daughters every Thursday from 8am to 5pm, with opportunities for regular ad hoc weekend days and occasional evenings.
After three physically active nursery days, we aim for Thursdays to have a gentler pace. A typical day might include the park, woods, library or aquarium, alongside reading, crafts, messy play and unstructured time at home.
We would like someone who will:
Bring imagination and genuine interaction to the girls’ day
Plan creative activities around their interests
Support learning through play, conversation and everyday experiences
Encourage independence and self-directed play
Maintain calm, consistent boundaries and follow our screen-free approach
Prepare and eat simple, healthy meals with the girls
Manage naps, personal care and their usual routines
Leave the children’s eating and play areas reasonably tidy
Communicate openly with us about their day and development
The right person will enjoy our eldest’s many questions while supporting our younger daughter as she finds her voice and explores with growing confidence. We want someone who will understand both girls as individuals, bring their own ideas to the role and build a long-term, trusting relationship with them. We would like you to share meals with the girls and feel welcomed as part of our family.

We can’t recommend Rebecca enough, it’s so lovely to hand our daughter over to her knowing that she will have a fantastic time and is with someone who really cares for her.
Rebecca has been looking after our daughter since January 2024, from when she was 4 months old, and is fantastic. Being conscious of how young my daughter was Rebecca worked with us to build up the time that she spent with her, going at my daughters pace. Initially having her for one afternoon a week we quickly increased this to two.
Rebecca is great at working on development and we can see the impact she has had on areas such as speech, fine motor skills and confidence in new surroundings. Rebecca is proactive in suggesting activities she can do with our daughter, both inside and outside the home.
Rebecca documents each session with a thread of photos and videos in WhatsApp, alongside updates on nappy, food etc… Not only is this great for keeping track of things, but it’s fabulous to see the fun they are having.
Rebecca has built a strong and lovely bond with my daughter, whose face lights up when Rebecca arrives. We have now started to have Rebecca look after her so we can have date nights and my daughter happily lets Rebecca put her to bed with no impact on her sleep, something which shows how comfortable she is with Rebecca.
