About Me
I am a mother of two. My daughter is a lively and sociable 8 year old with Down Syndrome. She is fully able and and potty trained but does need help with some steps or prompting of the steps. We are working on social boundaries and danger awareness. She needs limited assistance to take part in brownies and beavers during term time. My son is a fun loving 4 year old with possible ADHD. He is an avid builder, loves role play, mud kitchens, dancing and can talk for England! I need assistance with after school activities to either attend with a child or stay home with one while I manage the other. We need a trusted babysitter for evenings on occasion and someone who can come on days out, on occasion, during school holidays as an extra hand and set of eyes, as my husband works full time.
We enjoy role play, swimming, drama, squirrels, brownies, beavers, learning, dancing and outdoor play.
My Requirements
I am looking for someone who can engage with my children with high energy, creativity and play. Can put some sneaky learning in as well. We use Maths for Life curriculum, Teach Me Too and lots of other resources to prepare our daughter for the world. Having experience with a child with DS will be very beneficial considering the DS Act was made law and will be used going forward so learning or knowledge of the DS learning profile will be a great skill to acquire. We need someone who can come to our home who has the strength and energy to help us manage needs and to give us some respite or tips. Looking for someone who is has experience with SEN or willing to learn about SEN and embrace my kids strengths. The role will potentially lead to a long term position to help with my daughter in secondary school and becoming a teenager.

When Alex started school he struggles with separation anxiety but loves going to Rifka’s after school. He was happy and well fed and she was a great support as I had extra commitments with my disabled daughter. She was a comfort to Alex and her place is a home away from home.
