Seeking a short-term nanny in St Neots until September for our 3-year old boy
About Me
I'm Emily, married to Jean-Francois, with a wonderful 3-year old boy, based in St Neots.
My Requirements
We’re seeking a temporary nanny from the end of May until the end of August to care for our 3-year old son.
Why we're seeking someone:
* Our son is due to start preschool in September.
* Our current nanny has found another, longer-term position.
Pay: £17-£19/hour gross depending on experience
Hours needed:
* 3-4 days/week (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs)
* Start time: between 8.30am-9.30am as you prefer
* End time: between 5pm-6pm (earlier is OK if needed)
* Lunch breaks provided
More about these hours:
* We can be flexible on start dates and end dates.
* If you can’t do all these hours, we will consider people who are available at least 2 days/week and can do at least one month of care.
* Annual Leave during this time is fine, we can discuss and agree together.
Longer-term opportunities:
* From September, we have some opportunities we can explore with you:
* Nannying one day/week, babysitting, after-school care & holidays
About our son:
* Our son is 3 years, 3 months old.
* He is very bright and loving, with a great sense of humour.
* His favourite thing is to learn; he has many interests, including trains, nature, animals, history and cathedrals.
* He is very happy at home crafting or baking; but he is also a regular at our local soft play, playgrounds and play groups
* Every week or two he goes on a day trip to a local farm or garden centre
* We will share details about his specific needs via DM
About me and my husband:
* My husband and I work in tech; we work from home most of the week (we have an office each upstairs).
* My husband is a keen photographer; I love cooking, crafting and singing in our local choir.
* We get out to local nature reserves whenever we can, and we enjoy spending our holidays visiting family in France.
Practical details:
* We use a service called PAYE for Nannies to help with payroll and contracts and can guide you through this.
* We’re happy to provide contact details for our current nanny and babysitter if you’d like to find out more about working with us.
* We’re open to people who want to bring another child along, so long as we all feel confident that it’ll work for both children.
* If you live further than 20 minutes away, we’d be happy to pay you for some of your travel time.
Our ideal nanny is:
* Kind, fun, loving and patient
* Great at collaborating with sensitive and strong-willed toddlers
* Experienced with looking after children with mild Special Educational Needs, or is interested to learn
* Preferably, you’re a confident driver with your own car. If not, there are plenty of green spaces and activities available within walking distance and by local transport. Our house is a 5-minutes' walk from St Neots train station and the 905 bus stop.
Thanks for reading; we look forward to hearing if you think this might be a fit for you.

Gemma is currently our wonderful nanny and has worked for us the past 18 months, looking after our 3-year old son.
Our son is starting Preschool soon, which is why we're ending our contract with Gemma. We are therefore very keen to support Gemma’s search for a new family; she is the best!
More information about Gemma:
Gemma has looked after our 3-year old son since he was 22 months old. She worked 3 days/week initially, and now works 4 days/week for us, 8.30am-5.30pm. Gemma is highly experienced with babies and toddlers, and came recommended by local parents who absolutely raved about her.
We have found Gemma to be utterly conscientious and committed to our son's wellbeing. She has formed a very special bond with him, becoming almost a second mum. He’s grown so much under her care and we feel very lucky to have been able to give him such a nurturing start in life.
Gemma’s strengths are her deep experience and her genuine love of children; she is playful, energetic and fun-loving and our son laughs with her all day long. She is also extremely calm, patient and creative, which is necessary with strong-willed toddlers like ours!
Gemma is highly conscientious, taking great care to understand our son’s routine and follow through with every detail. She finds playful ways to get him to do everyday tasks, and always pays close attention to his health and safety. We feel completely comfortable letting Gemma take him to the doctor, the dentist, or out on adventures—which has made it possible for us to focus on our careers knowing he’s in the best hands.
Under Gemma’s care, our son has developed on all fronts; his confidence, speech and motor skills are all flourishing. And most importantly he is happy, trusting and kind to others, which is in great part down to Gemma’s nurture, care and guidance.
Wishing Gemma the absolute best. We are confident she will be snapped up—she is everything you could want for your children.
We are happy to share more if you’d like a chat or a reference—just ask.
