Live Out Nanny

Hi there!

We are a friendly, easygoing family based in Brantham, looking for a reliable and caring nanny to join us from January 2027. We have two lovely girls — a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old — and we’re hoping to find someone who will become a consistent, trusted part of their routine and our family life.

This role is for Wednesdays, term time only, from 8:00am to around 5:30/6:00pm, with the possibility of increasing to two full days per week in the future. Before the official start, we would love to arrange some babysitting sessions so everyone can get to know each other and the children feel comfortable.

A typical day would start at 8:00am at our home. You would help get our 4-year-old ready and take her to school for start time (the school is walking distance however if raining you would need to drive them there). The rest of the morning and early afternoon would be spent caring for our 1-year-old — planning age-appropriate, engaging activities, getting outdoors when possible, and supporting her development in a calm and nurturing way (we don’t do screen time).

During the day, we would like you to prepare healthy, balanced meals for the baby’s lunch, as well as healthy snacks for after school for both children. Occasionally, you may be asked to prepare a simple dinner for the children, but this is not a regular requirement. There is no expectation to bathe the children or feed them dinner as we usually eat around 6:30pm)

You would then collect our 4-year-old from school when it ends and spend the afternoon with both girls. We’re keen for this to be a relaxed, gentle part of the day for our eldest — a chance to unwind after school — while still encouraging bonding and connection between the two sisters through calm, thoughtful activities.

Alongside childcare, we’re looking for some light household support related to the children only — mainly washing, folding and putting away their laundry (we have a tumble dryer to make things quicker!), keeping play areas tidy at the end of the day, and encouraging the children to tidy up with your support. We’d also like you to pass on any school communications. Keeping a simple daily log for our baby (naps, meals, activities) would also be really helpful.

A bit about us — mum works in Colchester (8:30am–5:00pm) and dad is away during the week, so having someone dependable is really important. We’re looking for someone who is punctual, reliable, and genuinely committed — last-minute cancellations or lateness would be very difficult for us. In return, we offer a warm, respectful home, a lovely house with a garden, and a very relaxed (and sleepy!) British Shorthair cat.

The kind of person we’re hoping to find is someone experienced with both babies and young children, who is calm, organised, and proactive. Someone who enjoys planning activities, understands the importance of routine but can also adapt to the children’s needs, and who takes pride in creating a positive, nurturing environment. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone we can trust and build a long-term relationship with.

If this sounds like a good fit, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch with a bit about yourself, your experience, and your availability.

Ideally: DBS checked, first aid trained, driving licence holder.
