About Me

Exeter-based. Hi! Im looking to share my time, dedication and care to a family who need a nanny during the daytime and into the early evening on a part-time basis, but can be flexible so please do ask. I am a ‘young’ 42, with the benefit also of maturity and experience, but have lots of energy. I like to think I am considerate, generous, genuine, trust-worthy, fun - and friendly/approachable. I enjoy nurturing and encouraging the delight, curiosity and fun that children naturally exude, and am also in tune with their sensitivities and individual needs at different ages. It’s great when children have experience of different environments, with access to varied opportunities, whether that be reading, creating, cooking, exploring, imaginative play, talking, exploring, being still or being active. Most of all, it’s important that they can be themselves, and to be real and honest and to feel settled and content. It’s so rewarding to spend time with kids, and to be a part of aiding their growth, confidence, discussion, conversation and analytical skills, so that they can be well-rounded, considerate and resilient young people. My own son is much older now, which enables me to take on this role. I am very active, walk/cycle anywhere I can. I have travelled a lot and have taken on many different challenges. I love photography, the outdoors, art and theatre. I am more than happy to assist with organisation, preparing meals and undertaking other general household jobs and tasks to keep things running smoothly, of course. I have not confirmed my availability below because I am open to finding a schedule that works with the specific family, so please feel free to make contact if you want to discuss anything further.

My Experience

I have spent and still spend, much time with children. I have been surrounded by children and their learning environments at times, all my life. When I was young my family ran a playschool from our home; later my mother became a primary school teacher where I very often assisted her. We also had foster children in our home whilst I was growing up and into adulthood. I have a TEFL qualification and spent time teaching English to large classes of students aged 5-18 in Nepal. I have often assisted with my own young relatives and friends’ children, and enjoy spending time with them, baby-sitting and taking them on days out to interesting places. I have a natural affinity with children and it’s always a pleasure. I have one son, for whom I built a creative, wholesome, imaginative and understanding backdrop of experiences to become the confidant, polite, well-tuned, mature person he is now. I am currently in a profession which includes advocating for the best outcomes for children upon family separation and have a wide field of experience from that, but want to be more hands-on and transfer my skills to be a nanny. Previously I have worked in admin at a primary school; in such a small and friendly school my role often extended to helping out in every way, and i adored the children and the many varied and unexpected interactions I had with them, and the impact they had on me and vice versa. I am looking for a family who recognise all of the qualities I have set out in my bio, who think I could be a good fit, to meet me and decide whether I could be the right person to be entrusted with the care of their unique child or children to not just look after them, but to offer constructive assistance and to be an engaging and thoughtful inclusion in their young lives.
