About Me
I am an enthusiastic and compassionate person with lots of energy. I graduated from university with my Master’s degree in International Relations in Dec 2024. I’ve also studied Writing for Children from early development books to young adult novels, a course I did as an undergraduate in English which helped me to understand child psychology and behaviour. At Alevel I studied Drama, completed the National Youth Theatre, and also taught drama club to Yr 7 students during sixth form. I believe my experience in drama has made me confident, comfortable being silly and empathetic; skills I eagerly teach those younger than me.
I was also a House Captain during secondary school and was General Secretary and Deputy Print Editor for two different societies at my university. These leadership positions came with completing multiple Risk Assessments, hosting meetings and delegating tasks. I believe they demonstrate my ability to be well organised, have good time management and the capacity to handle the responsibilities placed on me effectively.
My Experience
I was a Children’s Team volunteer at Rediscover church in Exeter for two years. My role required me to be DBS checked as I looked after children from the age of 4 to 11 years old. I’m also currently DBS checked (as I volunteer with young people), trained in Safeguarding (Foundation and Basic Awareness), and I’m an official Mental Health First Aider (Mental Health First Aid England).
I have tutored children in the past in English and was also a mentor for children struggling with their mental health and emotions.
I have babysat children before for family and friends. The youngest child I’ve looked after has been 6 months old, and the oldest has been 11 years old. I’ve also baby sat a child of 7 months and one of 2 years at the same time. I’ve changed nappies, fed children, and read many bedtime stories! I can cook and I’m very tidy.
