Hi there! Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Charlotte , I’m 21 years old and I’m looking for the opportunity to gain more experience with children as a babysitter as I have a huge passion for children’s development. I believe that adults can learn a lot by watching the world from a child’s perspective as they grow. I love seeing and nurturing their natural sense of curiosity and wonderment of the world, thinking up fun activity ideas or following their lead, supporting them to pursue their passions and interests and find it so fun engaging with them in creative, imaginative play!
Personality wise I would say I’m patient, calm, creative, friendly and believe I would be an ideal match for children that require a more gentle approach. I am a firm believer in Positive Behavioural Support, and prefer to respond to behavioural challenges with empathy and understanding first and foremost to teach children about boundaries whilst maintaining their sense of safety and security.
In my spare time I like to crochet, knit, sew (any type of crafts really!), paint, and go on nature walks.
If you would like to meet either face to face or via FaceTime before considering me as a babysitter for reassurance purposes I’d be happy to do so. :)
My Experience
As well as my personal experience in babysitting for family members, professionally I have 10 months recent previous work experience as a support/care worker for adults with mild to severe learning disabilities.
Whilst those two types of care definitely have their differences I believe this experience has allowed me to progress a lot of the skills that are also beneficial for childcare which has me confident in looking after your children; for example this job has taught me a lot about human behaviour and potential behavioural challenges as well as how to adapt my communication style when necessary as many of the adults I worked with had speech delays and struggled to understand and process verbal language.
I am hoping to be able to use any babysitting I do as a way to gain valuable experience working with children and make the most of the opportunity to learn.
