About Me

Dear Parents,
I'm Reka, a nanny with over 12 years of experience and I'm looking for a new family to work with. The little girl I currently care for will be starting nursery in September, so sadly our time together is coming to an end.
I'm looking for a warm, friendly and relaxed family where I can become a valued part of your team. Ideally, I'm seeking a position for three full days per week (or up to four) or five mornings, but I'm unfortunately not available for only after-school care.
My approach is centred around the gentle/responsive parenting. I'm calm, caring and nurturing, while also believing that kind, consistent boundaries help children feel safe and secure.
Child development is a passion of mine, both professionally and personally. Over the years I spent a great deal of time self-learning about different approaches to children’s development and education, including Montessori and Steiner philosophies and I enjoy continuing to expand my knowledge. At the moment I’m considering taking the BA Early Childhood Studies degree course through distance learning in the next couple of years.
I believe in observing each child as an individual, understanding their unique temperament, interest and developmental stage. I enjoy watching the kind of person they’re becoming during the time they spend with me. I support them in a way that helps them feel confident, capable and emotionally secure and I also encourage independence.
I love spending time outdoors and enjoy taking children to parks, woodlands and outdoor playgroups in almost any weather. Music is another big part of my days, and I believe it plays an important role in children's development and emotional wellbeing, so I regularly attend music classes and enjoy singing throughout the day. I play a couple of instruments at a basic level.
I also love reading, making arts and crafts and a bit of baking. I involve children in age-appropriate everyday activities and giving them plenty of opportunities for their imagination to grow, explore and follow their curiosity. I'm happy to organise playdates and attend classes, libraries and local playgroups.
I'm experienced with traditional, vegetarian and vegan diets and enjoy cooking healthy meals from scratch.
I believe that good communication, mutual respect and trust are the foundations of a positive relationship with both children and parents. I’m grateful to say I’ve developed strong relationships with all my previous families. I'm comfortable around pets and am happy to walk a family dog if needed.
I live at the bottom of the Alexandra Park in N8, so I’m looking for a family to work with in Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Alexandra Palace, Highgate, Stroud Green, Finsbury Park or up to half an hour commute from where I live.
I'm DBS checked, Ofsted registered, hold a Paediatric First Aid certificate and a Cache Level 3 Homebased Childcare Diploma unit and can provide excellent references.
