Our experience with Little Treasures was very disappointing and ultimately resulted in termination after we raised reasonable questions about our child’s care.
As parents, we asked for clear explanations of how our son was being supported during incidents with other children. These questions were never properly answered. We were consistently given vague responses such as him being “removed from the situation,” with no clear explanation of how behaviour was guided, supported, or reinforced in the moment.
When we queried everyday aspects of care, such as outdoor or garden time, this was presented as being difficult to facilitate rather than clearly addressed. This added to a wider pattern where practical questions about our child’s day-to-day experience were not met with clear answers.
Over time, communication became increasingly defensive, and it felt as though asking questions about our child’s wellbeing was treated as criticism rather than normal parental involvement. We did not feel able to have open or constructive dialogue about his care.
In incident reports, our son was described as “non-verbal” and showing “no emotion,” which did not reflect his development or behaviour at home or in subsequent settings. Since moving to a different childcare setting, he has settled well and is thriving.
We also have concerns that our son was not taken outside or into the garden during his time at the setting, as this did not appear to form part of his daily routine.
We were also told we had not complied with support forms, despite completing multiple documents and having further forms ready to submit before receiving a termination notice. No deadlines or expectations for completion had ever been clearly communicated.
A polite message we sent in a parents’ WhatsApp group was later described as a “breach of confidential communication,” which we feel was a disproportionate and unreasonable interpretation of a reasonable comment.
Ultimately, our contract was terminated shortly after we continued to ask questions about our child’s care. In our experience, this setting does not support open communication with parents or handle concerns in a transparent or constructive way.
We would advise other parents to carefully consider whether they are comfortable with the level of communication and responsiveness before placing their child here.
