My Experience
I have spent my entire working life working with children in a variety of childcare, educational, and creative settings. My experience began with regular babysitting for local families, caring for children ranging from infants through to secondary-school age.
In 2019, I worked as an assistant singing coach at SJM Creative's summer theatre camp. In this role, I supported children aged 2–13, helping to develop their confidence and creativity while ensuring they had a safe, enjoyable, and engaging experience.
Alongside studying Musical Theatre at college, I worked as a Character Performer at the Children's Play Village in Warwick, a highly regarded children's entertainment venue. This role involved entertaining and engaging with children, maintaining a safe environment, supporting families, and helping with the day-to-day running of the venue. Working with thousands of children of all ages further strengthened my passion for childcare and child development.
During my gap year, I worked as a Play Worker for Warwick Out of School Club. My responsibilities included supervising groups of up to 25 children, preparing and serving breakfasts and snacks, escorting children safely to and from school, and encouraging imaginative, inclusive play. As part of this role, I completed both Safeguarding and Food Safety training.
Alongside this position, I provided English-language tutoring to two children aged 9 and 12, planning and delivering lessons independently on a bi-weekly basis. This was an incredibly rewarding experience that allowed me to build strong relationships with both children and parents.
I currently take on ad hoc babysitting work while leading the Mini's Musical Theatre class (ages 4–5) at Theatretrain Exeter. I love creating fun, supportive environments where children can feel confident, safe, and encouraged to express themselves.
