About Me

CURRENTLY FULLY BOOKED.
Hello. I retired from the NHS 11 months ago as a Lead Medical Secretary and am looking to increase my child care role by a few hours per week. I have done several nanny / after school pick up jobs over many years. I am a cheerful young-at-heart 64 year old who absolutely adores the company of young children ! I also continue to type clinic letters for the local hospital as a home worker and also volunteer as an ad hoc driver for those on low income who need to get to appointments, day centres, etc. for social services (DBS checked). Otherwise I enjoy my home, my friends, cinema, theatre, walking, etc. etc !

My Experience

I currently look after a 4 year old and a 18 month year old, usually mornings once or twice a week (0900-1130) with occasional school pickups (1130-1530) - Mum works from home and so I take the girls out to the various playgrounds in our lovely Bath parks, Bath City Farm, local walks and we enjoy treats like ice-cream in the summer or hot chocolate when it's cold! On occasion I have done supper, bath-time and snuggling up with a book at bed-time if Mum and Dad have a parents evening or need an evening out (although I am not overly keen on babysitting in the evenings especially during the darker, colder evenings - sorry !). In fact I looked after 'Mum' for a few months between jobs when she was a toddler 36 years ago! In the past I was a nanny to 3 children in France (aged 3 months, 2 years and 4 years), nanny/English tutor to a 6 year old girl in Istanbul for 3 months, did a school pickup for 2 junior school girls which involved homework and supper before Mum and Dad got home from work - this all took place in the 1980's (ie before most of you were born !) - along with many babysitting roles over the decades.

My Qualifications

Whilst I don't hold professional qualifications I hope that my happy disposition, care, sense of fun and imagination goes some way to ensuring that your little one(s) would be well looked after. Naturally, of course, am happy to provide a reference from my current employer. I will be doing a paediatric first aid course in early March.

My Availability

I can do from 1-4 hours per session - either mornings or afternoons but generally not at weekends. Just a few extra hours is what I'm looking for ideally so can also be available for non-regular work or sometimes at short notice. I am based on the East side of Bath and would prefer not to travel more than a few miles to my workplace.
