About Me
If your children in KS1-KS4 need help, I'm here for you.
My Experience
> 7+ years of direct SEN/SEND experience, particularly supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated needs.
> Extensive first-hand experience navigating the SEND system from initial concerns through assessment, diagnosis, provision and ongoing support.
> Successfully advocated for and supported the process of obtaining a formal autism diagnosis.
> Extensive practical experience with the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process, including applications, assessments, reviews, amendments and challenging provision that does not adequately reflect a child's needs.
> Experience liaising with Local Authority SEND teams regarding EHCP provision and educational support.
> Experience coordinating and communicating with schools, SENDCos, teachers, senior leadership teams and 1:1 support staff.
> Experience liaising across education, healthcare and medical services to ensure information about a child's needs is properly communicated.
> Experience communicating with GPs, clinicians and other healthcare professionals as part of assessment and support processes.
> Strong understanding of the importance of multi-agency working in supporting children with SEND.
> Practical understanding of autism in mainstream education, including the adjustments required for an autistic child to access learning successfully.
> Experience advocating for a child to remain within mainstream education with appropriate reasonable adjustments and individualised support.
> Experience requesting and advocating for appropriate 1:1 support and staff proximity where additional supervision or assistance is required.
> Understanding of sensory processing differences, including difficulties with noise, busy environments, transitions and overstimulation.
> Experience identifying when environments or activities are unsuitable or insufficiently adapted for an autistic child.
> Experience helping education providers understand the distinction between behaviour and communication of unmet SEND needs.
> Practical experience supporting emotional regulation, transitions, social communication and understanding social cues.
> Experience breaking instructions and activities into clearer, smaller and more manageable steps for an autistic learner.
> Experience supporting the development of literacy, comprehension, memory, concentration and learning engagement.
> Experience supporting a child who progressed significantly educationally, including helping a previously non-verbal child develop into a strong reader by approximately age six.
> Experience encouraging independence and resilience rather than creating unnecessary dependence on adult support.
> Understanding of the importance of structured routines, predictability, recovery time and appropriate sensory breaks.
> Experience supporting participation in sport and extracurricular activities while considering additional SEND requirements.
> Experience assessing whether clubs and activity providers have the appropriate understanding and capability to support an autistic child safely.
> Strong practical understanding of SEND safeguarding, particularly where communication differences can complicate how incidents are reported or understood.
