Private nanny/family assistant for September start in OX29
About Me
Our wonderful nanny has moved back to her home country and so we have a nanny-housekeeper position open with our family.
Brief details are below:
Family: Family of full time working professionals with two lovely, well mannered children: 3.5 year old, and 1 year old.
Hours and days:
Option 1 (Preferred): Full time employed or self-employed position 8 hours a day 5 days a week; opportunties for ad-hoc additional hours off term and on occasional weekends
Option 2(Flexible for the right candidate): Part-time, self-employed nanny-share position, 2-3 days/week, 5-8 hours per day - flexible based on your and our requirements; opportunties for ad-hoc additional hours off term and on occasional weekends. Happy to consider two candidates - each working specific days/week.
We are open to discussing arrangements for the right person.
Salary: Gross hourly rate negotiable, & based on experience. Salary increase after 12 months of employment included in contract.
Start date: 01 September 2026 onwards (closest to, start date)

Job description:
Shared care, with mother/grandmother - helping to work as a team to ensure excellent childcare and smooth running of household in a busy home.
The core of the job is nannying and childcare for the 3.5 year old, and the 1 year old. On most days you will have the support of either the children's mother or grandmother in caring for the children but the expectation is that you will eventually take the lead role. On a few days, you may have sole-charge i.e no second person to help and pick-ups from nursery (we will let you know in advance when this might be). Car seats will be provided and travel surcharge paid at 41p per mile.
Childcare schedule & activties rota will be shared in advance on 2-weekly basis.
When the older child is in nursery, the childcare component of the job will be supplemented by household chores (laundry, ironing and changing bed linen, and tidying).
Our children are happy, creative, kind, and curious, they are active, polite, helpful children who have loved their previous 2 nannies very much and who they keep in touch with still. No special needs.
The ideal nanny will have:
* Experience caring for infants and toddlers
* A warm, caring, and proactive nature
* A high level of flexibility and reliability
* Excellent references
* A DBS check
*A clean driving license
*Excellent attention to detail and positive, 'can-do' attitude
Desirable but not essential:
* Paediatric first aid training
*Ofsted registration
Personal specs: Highly motivated, organised person with a 'can-do' attitude who wants to make a positive contribution to a busy, motivated, hardworking family - and stimulate the children in a positive, healthy manner with arts, crafts, walks in our magical garden, lots of reading and responsive-play. Independent working, resourcefulness and energetic, happy attidtude to the job is essential. We would love to find someone who feels like a trusted extension of our family and who can provide consistent, loving care to our children. Please note, outings to local parks and libraries only once well-settled into role and on pre-agreement with parents. **Kindness to the little ones is essential**
