My Requirements

We are looking for a kind, proactive and practical Mother’s Help/Nanny/House Help to support our family 2 days a week, ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays 3pm - 6pm.

With a newborn and two 3 year olds, everyday family life can be wonderfully busy! I am looking for an extra pair of hands to help me juggle the demands of 3 little children while keeping the household running smoothly.

I will be at home and involved in caring for the children. This is a hands-on, supportive role where we work together as a team. I would love someone who naturally notices what needs doing, takes initiative and treats our home with the same care and consideration they would their own.

The ideal person will be happy to switch between helping with the children and tackling practical household tasks depending on what the family needs that day.

Key responsibilities

Childcare and family support
* Play with Hennie and Leora, supervise activities and keep them happily occupied
* Help me manage all 3 children during busy moments, such as mealtimes, getting everyone ready for bed or settling the baby
* Help prepare simple dinner for the girls and support their usual routines
* Help keep the children’s belongings and bedroom tidy and organised

Household help
* Keep the kitchen clean and tidy throughout the afternoon including loading the dishwasher and wiping down surfaces
* Help keep on top of clothes, toys, books and general family clutter
* Prepare family meals or do some basic meal preparation in advance
* Take care of the little jobs that often get pushed aside when looking after young children

Being proactive
* Notice what needs doing without having to be given a list of instructions
* Be happy to move between childcare and household tasks as priorities change
* Take pride in keeping our home feeling calm, organised and welcoming
* Think ahead and help make the day easier, whether that means preparing lunch, sorting laundry or keeping the girls entertained while I feed the baby

The person we are looking for

We would love to find someone who is:

* Warm, kind and genuinely enjoys being around young children.
* Reliable, trustworthy, organised and practical.
* Proactive and happy to get stuck into whatever needs doing.
* Comfortable around newborns and confident supporting a family with 3 young children.
* Happy doing a mixture of childcare and light household tasks rather than focusing exclusively on one or the other.
* Flexible, calm and able to adapt when the day does not go to plan.
* Someone who takes pride in their work and treats our home and family with care and respect.

Previous experience with newborns and toddlers would be a real advantage. Experience as a mother’s help, nanny, au pair or in a similar family support role would be ideal.

Practical details

* Location: Ghyll Road, Crowborough, East Sussex.
* Days: Ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays.
* Hours: 3-6pm
* Start date: Around the arrival of our baby in early January 2027.
* Working arrangement: I will generally be at home and working alongside you.
* Role type: Part time, ongoing position.

We are hoping to find someone who will become a familiar and trusted part of our family rather than someone who simply comes in to complete a list of chores.

Above all, we want someone who will make family life feel that little bit easier. Someone who enjoys being around children, is happy to roll up their sleeves and understands that sometimes the most valuable help is simply seeing what needs doing and getting on with it.
