My Summary
About Me
Hi, I'm Alicia. It's lovely to meet you. I'm a registered Paediatric/Neonatal Nurse and have worked in various acute hospital settings in the UK, Australia and New Zealand since qualifying as a nurse in 2015. For the last nine years, I've worked in Neonatal Intensive Care (known as NICU or SCBU, which stands for Special Care Baby Nursery), so I have a lot of experience taking care of newborns and hold a Newborn Life Support certificate. I'm looking to make a change from nursing to nannying. I still want to work closely with families and babies/children, just in a different way. I've cared for sick babies and children all my adult life, and I'm keen to provide care, compassion, love and joy to well babies/children in and around Sheffield. Whilst I've cared for newborns for a long time I have experience in looking after children 0-18 years.
I live with my partner and two cats and love walking in the Peak District, climbing, reading and spending time with my family and friends.
My Experience
I've been a registered Paediatric/Neonatal Nurse for the last ten years, eight of those working in Neonatal Intensive Care/Special Care Baby Units. I have a vast amount of knowledge and experience in taking care of newborns, including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, understanding cues and sleep/wake cycles. I've cared for thousands of premature babies in my career and have experience in caring for babies on oxygen/who are nasogastric tube/PEG fed and understand childhood milestones and how they differ for premature babies. I also hold a certificate in Newborn Life Support. While most of my experience is with newborns, I have also worked on wards with children aged 0-18 years and would be happy to care for children of any age.
My Qualifications
1st class honours degree in Child Nursing (BA Hons)
Neonatal Life Support Qualification
Breastfeeding Support Course
Neonatal Development Study Day Course
My Availability
I'm ideally looking for a part-time position. I'm used to working from 07:00-19:30 hours, so longer days aren't a problem for me. The number of days I'm available will depend on the hours, but I'm very flexible. I also would be OK with doing the occasional weekend when required.
