My Summary

My Experience

I have been working in childcare for over 4 years. I started my career in nursery care leading to me qualifying in Early Years Development, since then I have transferred my skills overseas in a number of ways; volunteering to help set up and teach in a nursery in a remote village in Fiji, which had been sadly struck by a tsunami. In a non English speaking community I had to get creative and use my skills to communicate, using actions, song, and picture cards as well as learning basic words and phrases in the native language to assist in their development. Just this year I spent my summer months working in Pennsylvania, with Camp America as the art specialist counsellor, where my job was to plan fun and engaging activities for campers, as well as running night time, and wake up routines and ensuring the children are safe, nurtured and well fed! Currently, I run a breakfast and after school club in a small, village school where my duties are to prepare breakfasts and snacks for the children, as well as plan engaging activities and experiences which follow a weekly theme. I also work for a performing arts company named PQA, I am the primary teacher for the 'poppets class' (ages 3-6 years old) where I plan exciting and creative lessons based around song and dance, each week with the same aim to build confidence and creativity.
