My Experience

At home I have three younger siblings and my mum is a single parent with physical disabilities. Two of my younger siblings have autism. Because of this, I have a large amount of experience with caring responsibilities for children. I spent many years collecting from school, cooking, cleaning, dressing, helping with homework, doing hair and contributing to their general well-being.

In regards to previous childcare experience, I have been a child-minder for several families on numerous occasions. I have babysat children ranging from ages seven-months to fourteen-years for overnight periods. I was a long-term sitter for one family up until I moved away from the area for University; I joined them when their son was nine and daughter seven—when I left their daughter was twelve, their son fourteen and they had a newborn baby that I was looking after, too.

In terms of professional experience, I have a seasonal job wherein I work as a "Performance Elf" at Santas grotto; handing out presents to children, engaging in conversation and taking their pictures. This role requires imagination, creativity and bonding with the children to ensure their experience is as magical and memorable as possible. It also allows me to connect with my inner-child, and have fun right along with them.
