About Me

My name is Michelle and I live in Lea, Preston. I am currently working as a primary school teacher and have been for 14 Years. I’m currently the lead early years teacher and part of the Senior Leadership in my school. I studied at St Martin's (University of Cumbria) and have a BA Hons degree in Early Childhood Education With Qualified Teacher Status.

I live with my husband and our two daughters, aged 4 and 8. They are one of the reasons I am making the move from a school setting to creating my own.
I am in the process of having a purpose built cabin to run my childminding venture and can't wait to share the progress of the build with you. My business will be called ‘Little Explorers’ as I am a firm believer of children learning through play and exploration of their carefully thought out learning environment.

I love to be outdoors, whatever the weather. I will plan a curriculum around the interests and needs of your children but also a believer in 'in the moment' planning taking my lead from the children. We have local access to sensory rooms, playgroups, the library, parks and the Guild Wheel. I also have the means to take the children further afield to give them experiences that cannot be provided in most nursery settings.

I am hoping the build will be complete around March and can't wait to welcome you all to have a look round our learning space. I will be finishing my current position at my Primary school in July so will be available to take children from Monday 22nd July 2023.

I am also looking to offer before and after-school wrap around care and holiday club to any children from St Bernard's Catholic Primary School (Lea) so if this is something of interest to you, please don't hesitate to contact me.
