Sadie
Babysitter in Manchester
My Summary
About Me
I am third year Medicinal Chemistry student at the University of Manchester, but am also an experienced healthcare support worker and childcare provider. I am currently available for any sort of childcare/babysitting opportunities. Please feel free to send me a message about any one-off, or regular jobs.
My Experience
I have a wide range of experience working with children of different ages and needs, and have been babysitting for 6 years. I am passionate about providing children with a safe, caring and engaging environment.
I currently work for Mad Science, where I teach interactive science clubs for children after school. This has given me lots of experience engaging children through fun, hands-on activities while adapting my approach to different ages and personalities.
I also have extensive experience providing one-to-one care for a young boy with a severe, life-limiting genetic condition. As his PA, I supported his daily routine and activities and was responsible for his nutrition, medication administration, tube feeding and gastric care. I worked closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, conductive education specialists and other healthcare professionals. This experience taught me to be highly responsible, attentive and adaptable, while ensuring that the child was comfortable, happy and able to enjoy age-appropriate activities.
I also have experience supporting young people in school environments with additional support needs including autism, behavioural issues and other learning disabilities.
Outside of my paid work, I am President of the Manchester chapter of Make a Smile, a national charity that visits children in hospices and play centres dressed as their favourite Disney characters. I help organise visits and work with volunteers to create exciting and inclusive experiences for children.
I am friendly, patient and reliable, and I really enjoy getting to know children and finding activities that they will enjoy. I am comfortable caring for children with additional needs and complex medical requirements, as well as providing more general childcare, play and after-school support.
My Qualifications
I have full first aid training and medication administration Level 1 and 2. I am trained in safeguarding, disability awareness, mental capacity assessment and general health and safety. I am currently studying a BSc in Medicinal Chemistry, and have A levels in Chemsitry, Biology, English Literature and Language and an Extended Project Qualification.
