About Me
I am a BSc Education and Psychology student at the University of Southampton aspiring to become a primary school teacher in the future. I am in Southampton during the week (term-time only) and come home on Friday to Surrey most weekends. During the school holidays, I work in a forest school nursery / daycare as well as being a regular babysitter for many local families in both daytimes and evenings. I have also acted as a full-time nanny abroad for one of these families! I enjoy sports and am part of Cricket and Netball teams both at university and back home. I was also a swimming teacher to children aged 1-14 during 6th Form. I love volunteering and was a Young Leader in Girlguiding for 4 years after being a member myself from the age of 5!
My Experience
I have worked in nursery schools for the past two years during school holidays and have completed various qualifications as part of this, e.g. food hygiene, safeguarding and basic first-aid courses. I am also a regular babysitter for many families in my local area of Surrey, and in Summer 2023 I travelled to Geneva with one of these families, caring for their three children (aged 1, 3, and 5) as a full-time nanny all week. I also volunteer at a Southampton primary school in their Reception class as work experience for my degree. I have an enhanced DBS check for all of these activities.
My Qualifications
I have got certificates from various training courses I have completed at nursery. These include basic first-aid, safeguarding, FGM and food hygiene and preparation.
My Availability
My degree has 10 contact (lecture) hours a week, so I generally have a fair amount of free time but spread around my week. There may need to be some flexibility as my degree is classed as full-time and occasional meetings / one-off lectures pop up! I currently go home to babysit most weekends and I will also be at home full time during the school holidays. I have my own car and therefore can travel around fairly easily at any time of day, as well as travel back to Southampton in school holidays and weekends if required.
