My Experience
Work experience
Nanny- Nanny/housekeeper
Chiswick
January 2025- ongoing
I joined the family in the beginning of 2025 when the children were 11months and 3 years old. I feel in this role I have had the most impact and truly felt my experience was valued. The elder child was in preschool and I worked closely with his key workers there to help with school readiness and work through some challenging behaviours. Over the course of my time with this family my role has changed from solely to to be a nanny/housekeeper; this was due to the youngest child starting part time nursery I took on roles such as ironing and full cleaning. Outside of this I was full time with the children doing homework and planning outings and play dates. During my time at this position I have had several periods of proxy parenting these, having sole charge for an extended period and helping the children stay in their routine while parents are away. The parents and I have had clear communication and expectations with them, truly valuing my advice. In this role I have truly reached full potential as a nanny and have developed my methods. I will be sad to leave this family but know it is time for me to move back to the north east.
Nanny
Ealing
July 2024- December 2024
This position was meant to be a long term role and I was hoping to spend a number of years in the role but due to a change in financial circumstances the family are not in a position to employ a live-in nanny. The day to day of the role was working in sole charge or alongside mum to look after three boys ages 6,4 and 2-3. At the start of my role this was during the summer holidays so my role consisted of planning outings and enriching activities in the home, including taking the children on public transports across london and doing prep work for the new school year. Once the school year started my role was to get the children ready for the day, assist with drop off and pick ups from school/nursery and look after them in the evening. I organised food shops for the children to correlate with the meal plans I made focusing on a varied diet to introduce them to new foods and encourage healthy eating. I maintained a calm environment for the children on returning from school so that homework could be completed and handed in on time and regularly spoke to teachers to ensure the children were doing well and enjoying school. Due to the role being shared charge it was crucial to keep communication open and we would have bi-weekly meetings to go through diaries and talk about behaviour and how to best support the children. This role has taught me a lot about the management of a household through working closely with the cleaner and other staff and I look forward to this being a part of my roles in the future it has also help me have better understanding of the developments of children as I lead and completed the potting training of the youngest child, it has also taught me about how to successfully manage the behaviour of different ages of children with patience and care. I have grown very close with the family and greatly value the experience I have gained.

Shoreditch-oxfordshire
April 2023- June 2024
The position was initially based in central London and I moved with the family to Oxfordshire in September 2023. When I started the position the child I was looking after was just under 1 year old and my weekly tasks consisted of taking the toddler to age appropriate groups and outings to encourage developments, making meal plans and cooking for the toddler and occasionally the whole family it also consisted of ironing and laundry for the whole family and other house work. During my time with the family I went on several holidays with them; a mixture of short and long trips. During these trips my main focus was creating stimulating activities for the children to keep them entertained. The family's second child was born during Christmas time and I have assisted with changing bathtimes and general care with him and really enjoyed it, regularly having sole charge with him in the house and taking him on walks ect while mum was out, working to establish a good sleep and feeding routine. I have also done overnights ect with the toddler while the mum was recovering from a c section. I really enjoy the position with this family and it definitely showed me that I do really enjoy working with infants.

Richmond
November 2021- February 2023
I started in November 2021. At the end of June I left the position to help my mum move house during this time they hired another nanny, two months later they contacted me to ask if I would return to the family and as I was looking for a new position at the time I moved back at the end of august. Both parents work from home which I have found challenging as it never felt as though I was fully incharge during the work day. While I have been here they have had their second child (March 2022). I worked more during this period with solo care and extended duties. When the younger child was still a newborn I was a full time nanny to the elder child and have experience working as mothers help this included support for the mum and talking the newborn on walks. When I returned to the position the family had made the decision to send the elder to a childminder to socialise him more with other children. My current day to day is focused around the nine month old providing a stimulating routine including trips to the library, different play and sensory groups. Along with this I have become part of a community of other nannies in the area who look after children of a similar change and we regularly go to play cafes and the playground together to help socialise the children. I have a strong bond with the family and the two children and often have dinner and watch films with the parents in the evening. I get on well with both parents and have done babysitting for a few of their friends.
Duties:
-daily trips to playground, play cafe, library and parks
- creating weekly schedules for activities such as sensory classes and baby groups
- Meal preparation of healthy balanced meals
- Overseeing and preparing baby led weaning
