About Me
We are a family of 4 with two young boys aged 6 and 8 years. Our 8 year old has ASD (PDA profile) and ADHD . My husband runs his own business and works long hours. I am a stay at home mum who works from home occasionally.
Our 8 year old is currently awaiting a Special School place and is receiving interim provision (eg. home tuition) in the meantime. He has suffered school based trauma as needs could not be met in mainstream and his placement at an SEMH school also broke down for similar reasons. He is therefore indefinitely at home during the week.
My Requirements
We are looking for an experienced SEN nanny with understanding of PDA to work with our eldest son. This is to allow me (his mother) time to leave the house occasionally to have some 'me time' and also provide another adult to give him some undivided attention which he thrives on.
Our son is very creative, smart, funloving and active. He is drawn to people with a kind, bubbly and creative nature. You must have a good sense of humour and prioritise connection over correction. Our son suffers a lot from anxiety which is brought on by demands. He likes to feel in control and to be given choices. However, when he feels safe with the right sort of person, he is calm, relaxed and lovely to be around.
If our son is offered a school placement, he will probably take a while to move up to a full timetable if at all. Therefore we will still require somebody for the hours he is at home. The right candidate could also be involved in transporting our son to and from school providing they have a car.
A car is essential as we live in a small village without good transport links.
