Katie G
Childminder in Newcastle Upon Tyne
My Summary
About Me
Hello, my name is Katie and I am an Ofsted-registered childminder based in Gosforth. I have been childminding for the past two, following four and a half years working as a nursery practitioner.
I would describe myself as caring, reliable and passionate about providing children with the very best start in their early years. I am always looking to develop my knowledge and skills through continued learning and training, ensuring that I can provide the highest quality of care and support for every child.
As a parent myself, I understand that choosing the right childcare provider is a big decision and one that comes with a great deal of thought and consideration. I want every parent to feel confident and reassured that their child is happy, safe and well cared for.
I aim to make the transition into childcare as smooth and positive as possible, taking the time to get to know each child as an individual and ensuring that their unique needs, interests and routines are fully supported. Building strong, trusting relationships with both children and their families is extremely important to me.
To keep parents connected throughout the day, I use a downloadable app which provides real-time updates, allowing you to 'check in' as often as you wish and see what your child has been getting up to. From activities and outings to meals and special moments. I want you to feel involved in your child's day, even when you're apart.
Our Home:
I work alongside my Mum, Nicola Gannon, who has been an Ofsted-registered childminder for over 26 years. Together, we provide a warm, welcoming and child-centred home-from-home environment where children can feel comfortable, secure and encouraged to be themselves.
Our spacious home is filled with a wide range of resources, toys and activities suitable for all ages and stages of development. We carefully provide opportunities for children to explore, discover and learn through play, while following their individual interests and encouraging their natural curiosity.
We also have a large, fully enclosed and secure garden, with a variety of age-appropriate equipment and toys. Outdoor play is an important part of our day, giving children plenty of opportunities to explore, be active, develop their physical skills and enjoy the benefits of spending time outdoors.
Learning Through Experiences:
I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, exploring their interests and experiencing the world around them. Therefore, throughout the week, I provide a variety of exciting outings and experiences within our local community. Including visits to playgroups, local parks and soft play, as well as trips to places such as the Baltic, the Laing Art Gallery and Jesmond Dene — with many more adventures along the way!
My aim is to create a fun, nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel happy, valued and confident to learn, explore and grow.
My Experience
Before becoming a childminder, I spent four and a half years years working in a busy, fast-paced nursery in Gateshead. During this time, I gained a wealth of knowledge and valuable first-hand experience caring for and supporting children from as young as 6 weeks old through to 5 years old.
I’m also a proud Mum to a lovely little girl, who has given me countless wonderful experiences and taught me so much about the joys (and challenges!) of parenthood.
I’m also very fortunate to have received lots of lovely feedback and glowing references from families I’ve cared for in the past, which I’d be more than happy to share with prospective parents.
