About Me

I am an experienced nanny and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant with three years' experience caring for children aged 4 months to 4 years in their homes. I also have two years' experience supporting neurodivergent children aged 3 to 11, across school settings. I hold a First-Class BSc in Psychology with Child Development and a Foundation in Play Therapy.

Driven by my natural rapport with children and guided by my knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), I bring a calm, fun, child-led and relationship-centred approach that helps children feel safe, understood and confident.

Play is at the heart of what I do, building on each child’s interests to support their development. For example, one of my favourite experiences with a child was reenacting Julia Donaldson’s The Highway Rat through listening to the soundtrack. It was a fun, imaginative, child-led experience that encompassed all areas of the EYFS, with my guidance and support.

Julia Donaldson is one of my favourite authors, as well as Michael Rosen (We're Going on a Bear Hunt), Helen Oxenbury (So Much) and more (!) because of their relatable themes and rhythmic storytelling. Research shows that young children learn language through the rhythm, repetition and expression in everyday speech. This is why I use a language rich environment, nursery rhymes and expressive storytelling daily as the basis of my work.

This child led approach is equally important for children with additional needs. My interest in neurodiversity led me to study the cognitive differences between people with and without ADHD for my undergraduate dissertation, reinforcing my belief that there is no one size fits all approach to learning and development. Working alongside neurodivergent children has since shown me the importance of understanding each child's individual way of learning, communicating and regulating. When children feel accepted for who they are and their interests are used as a starting point for learning through play, they are able to flourish.

These experiences have reinforced why I love being a nanny. The individualised care it offers allows me to build meaningful relationships with children and tailor my approach to each child's unique needs, which is exactly where I want to make a difference. This is why I have chosen to become a full-time nanny and am taking on families from September.

Brilliant Beth

5 stars

Beth has worked with us as a nanny for our daughter Robin for two years, and our experience of her has been exceptional. She is everything I would hope for in a nanny; supremely warm, kind, present, thoughtful, and imaginative in her time with Robin. She has a natural ability to connect with children, and brings real care to the process every day.

The thing that has made Beth so indispensable to us is the bond she has built with Robin. Robin absolutely loves her, and their relationship feels secure, caring and genuinely joyful. Beth is very attuned to Robin’s personality and needs and takes a thoughtful interest in child development, routines, emotions and the specific things that help Robin feel safe and happy.

She is also lovely to have around as a family. She's calm, punctual, communicative, responsible and considerate. We have always felt very confident leaving Robin in her care. She has good judgement, keeps us well updated, and approaches the role with real dedication.

In short, we love Beth and feel very lucky to have had her as part of Robin’s life. I would absolutely recommend her - I'd be pleased to give a telephone reference to anyone who would like one.
