About Me

We are a friendly, active family based in NE42, Northumberland. We love spending time outdoors together, whether that is camping, mountain biking, going on long walks, or simply exploring the beautiful countryside on our doorstep. We are happiest when we are outside and on an adventure.

Our son Oscar is six years old, full of energy, and wonderfully sociable. He is affectionate, happy, and chatty, and he easily makes new friends with both children and adults. He loves being outdoors, whether that is exploring, running, climbing, or simply being in nature. He is a huge fan of Minecraft and enjoys creative, imaginative play. He absolutely adores animals of all kinds and is at his happiest when he has the opportunity to spend time around them.

Oscar has diagnoses of ASD and ADHD (AuDHD). He is independent with toileting, eating, and dressing, and he communicates verbally in the same way a neurotypical child of his age would. In practice, his AuDHD profile means he can experience high levels of anxiety, particularly around demands, expectations, and transitions between activities. He responds best to adults who are flexible, patient, and willing to follow his lead rather than imposing rigid structure. Co-regulation, giving him genuine choices, and using language that invites rather than instructs are the strategies that work well for him.

We are looking for a warm, reliable childcare provider who understands the needs of AuDHD individuals in a neuro-affirming way and who can provide relationship-based support. We are seeking someone who is looking for a long-term role, as building a strong, trusting relationship with Oscar and our family is really important to us. We are looking for after-school care during term time and fuller days during school holidays.

We are a warm, supportive family who value open communication and teamwork. We would be happy to fund additional specialist training in the areas of autism and ADHD for the right candidate, should they wish to enhance their professional development in this area. We are happy to discuss hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
