My Summary
Experienced Primary Teacher (Qts) & Dyslexia Specialist. Literacy, Numeracy & Asn Support
About Me
I am a qualified Primary Teacher (QTS) and Principal Teacher of Literacy, currently working within an Additional Support Needs (ASN) setting in a primary school. I am passionate about identifying and advocating for children with learning differences.
I hold accredited SpLD status and specialise in dyslexia. Last year, I completed the GTCS Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice Professional Recognition Programme, further enhancing my ability to support dyslexic learners.
I offer bespoke individual and small-group lessons in literacy and numeracy for neurodiverse children, as well as those who have fallen behind at school and require some extra support. I also provide advice for families, working in partnership to ensure consistent and effective learning strategies.
My Experience
I am an experienced Primary Teacher (QTS) and Primary Support for Learning teacher with over 20 years in education, specialising in literacy and additional support needs. I currently work as Principal Teacher of Literacy at a primary school in Aberdeen, where I lead whole-school literacy development alongside targeted support for pupils requiring additional intervention.
I have extensive experience supporting children with a wide range of additional support needs, including: dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, PDA and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. I regularly carry out screening assessments and build learner profiles for dyslexia and dyscalculia, using assessment data to inform targeted, effective interventions. I am confident in analysing data to identify needs and design appropriate support.
I am a strong advocate for inclusive practice and am committed to ensuring that neurodiverse children are supported to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
Alongside my school-based role, I have significant experience providing one-to-one tuition, both in person and online. I focus on building strong, trusting relationships and have seen consistent growth in pupils’ confidence, engagement, and attainment.
My approach is holistic and child-centred, with a strong emphasis on multisensory teaching strategies tailored to individual learning needs.
