About Me
Hello, I’m a mother to a 6-year-old and we’re looking for a kind and experienced tutor to support our child with weekly one-to-one after-school sessions (around 1 hour to begin with). We are based in Kingston and would ideally like lessons at our home, but we’re also open to travelling locally if needed. We’re available after 4 pm on weekdays.
Our child is in Year 2 but currently falling behind in both maths and English, with maths being the bigger challenge, so we’d like sessions to prioritise building skills and confidence in maths. He has some additional learning needs (SEN), so we’re looking for someone patient and understanding who can help build both confidence and a positive attitude toward learning.
He responds particularly well to visual learning and benefits from encouragement and positive appraisal, as he can be very doubtful of himself due to his past struggles. We’re hoping to find a tutor who can make learning engaging and enjoyable, while helping him gain stronger self-esteem, catch up with classwork, and develop a lasting love for learning.
My Requirements
For childcare, we are looking for after-school 1:1 tutoring rather than general babysitting—around one hour per week to start with. We are available on weekdays after 4 pm and would prefer sessions at our home in Kingston, though we are open to travelling locally if needed. The focus is on academic support, especially maths (with some English), so we would like someone experienced in working with SEN children and confident using visual learning strategies. A patient, encouraging approach that helps build confidence and self-esteem is really important to us.
