Registered Childminder with Special Needs Experience Job in Newcastle Upon Tyne
About Me
Hi, I'm here to find a Personal assistant for my daughter.
My Requirements
Job Title – Personal Assistant
Hours – 6.5 hours term time
8 hours school holiday
Location – Fenham
We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a 7-year-old girl with complex additional needs.
Elena is autistic, has a learning disability and severe sensory processing difficulties. She is mainly non-verbal. She can occasionally say single words but does not speak in sentences and mainly communicates through gestures.
Candidates should be respectful of, and willing to learn about, our Islamic cultural and religious practices, particularly those relating to food preparation, dietary requirements, personal care, and standards of modest dress. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold these practices with sensitivity, professionalism, and respect in all aspects of their role.
She has no awareness of danger and is fully dependent on adults for her daily care and safety. Close supervision is required at all times.
Support required includes:
Ensuring her safety and wellbeing at all times
Support with feeding, dressing, bathing and general daily care
Prompting and support with toileting and recognising cues
After school support and support during school holidays
Supporting routines and transitions throughout the day
Monitoring behaviour such as removing clothing or shoes unexpectedly and ensuring she remains safe and comfortable
Elena requires 1:1 support due to the level of care and supervision needed.
The family would like to slowly introduce more activities to help her enjoy and access the community. These may include swimming, trampolining, visits to local parks and horse-riding lessons. The PA will support her to take part in these activities in a calm, safe and supportive way.
We are looking for someone who is patient, attentive and understanding, and who can provide consistent and supportive care.
Experience supporting children with autism, learning disabilities or sensory needs is desirable but not essential for the right person.

After reading other people's reviews, positive and negative, I've decided to get in touch with Amelia to support my daughter and son. She seemed lovely, which I'm sure she is. She replied promptly to my messages and we even spoke over the phone. Upon her request, I went with her suitable time slot and got a baby sitter to watch my two disabled children to accommodate the meeting as I'm not able to do so without this support.
I was really eager to meet her but despite going with her preferred time, she didn't turn up. I kept texting her but had no reply. I've tried her number and it kept saying that I've dialed an incorrect number. I even tried calling her WhatsApp number but it kept saying that it's unavailable. I was so confused as I spoke to her using the same number a couple of days ago and it worked fine. After seeing that she was active on the Childcare app, I tried contacting her here, but she still did not respond to any of my queries. I can understand that she might have changed her mind but that's not professional and ethical at all. if you've arranged a time to meet someone then at least have a decency to let the other person know that you're not interested, which is absolutely fine as everyone is free to make their own decision.
I wish her all the best but if she's reading this then please try to be considerate of others time and emotions. A lot of parents come here to look for support as they already have many struggles in their lives.
Thanks
