Part Time Nanny Job in Northampton
About Me
About Our Family
We are a warm, friendly family based in Crick, Northamptonshire, looking for a long-term nanny to become a valued part of our family.
This is a considered, long-term position for someone who values quality engagement, emotional connection and supporting children’s development within a family environment. We are not looking for a traditional “mother’s help”, but an experienced, confident nanny who is happy to take ownership of their time with the children whilst working collaboratively alongside a parent who is at home.
I am currently taking a career break to be at home with our children, whilst my partner’s role often requires him to work in London and occasionally travel abroad. As a result, I do a great deal of solo parenting, and with no family living nearby, we’re looking for someone who can genuinely share the childcare and become a trusted part of our support network.
We have two wonderful children:
* Ewan, who is 2 years old.
* Evelyn, who is currently a baby.
We’re also a family of animal lovers and have two Maine Coon cats, Cleo and Maverick, along with our friendly Cocker Spaniel, Clover.
As a family we love spending our weekends together, particularly swimming, getting outdoors and making the most of family time.
?
About Ewan
Ewan is a happy, affectionate and inquisitive little boy who loves being outdoors and is thriving in his role as a big brother.
We follow a gentle, respectful parenting approach with clear boundaries and consistent expectations. We believe in encouraging independence, responsibility and good manners from an early age, whilst helping our children develop confidence, empathy and respect for others.
We are a very low-screen household and encourage imaginative play, outdoor adventures and age-appropriate activities instead of screen time.
Ewan is a fantastic eater thanks to baby-led weaning and has always been an excellent sleeper, currently sleeping from 7 pm until 7 am. He enjoys attending nursery three days a week (Wednesday to Friday) and has previously loved Baby Sensory, Baby Yoga, Baby Massage and Active Bears. We will stop nursery when we find the right nanny.
?
About Evelyn
Evelyn is currently a young baby and a lovely, content little girl. She’s a good sleeper and is exclusively breastfed, although, as with any baby, her routine continues to evolve.
We’re looking forward to introducing her to activities such as Baby Sensory and Baby Yoga over the coming months.
My Requirements
The Role
This is a considered, long-term position for an experienced nanny who values quality engagement, emotional connection and supporting children’s development within a family environment.
We are not looking for a traditional “mother’s help”, but a confident, proactive childcare professional who is comfortable taking ownership of their time with the children whilst working collaboratively alongside a parent who is at home.
The role is approximately 18 hours per week:
Monday: 1:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Wednesday: 1:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Friday: 1:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Start: September/October (flexible for the right candidate)
You’ll be caring for our two children, Ewan (2) and Evelyn (baby). As I am currently taking a career break to be at home with the children, this role is about sharing the childcare during the busiest parts of the week rather than replacing a parent.
We’re looking for someone who is equally confident caring for one or both children independently when appropriate—for example, taking Ewan to toddler groups or activities whilst I spend one-to-one time with Evelyn, or vice versa. We hope to find someone who enjoys becoming an active part of the children’s lives by planning outings, encouraging outdoor play and supporting their learning through play and everyday experiences.
We’d particularly love someone who enjoys taking children to local groups, libraries, parks, swimming, sensory classes and other age-appropriate activities, helping them to build confidence, independence and social skills.
Alongside childcare, we’d appreciate someone who naturally takes ownership of children’s household tasks during quieter periods, including:
* Children’s laundry
* Cleaning and preparing bottles and pump parts
* Preparing simple, nutritious meals for the children
* Keeping children’s bedrooms and play areas organised
* Restocking nappies, wipes and changing stations
* Tidying up after children’s meals and activities
* Rotating toys and activities where appropriate
As I’ll usually be at home, previous experience working alongside one or both parents would be a significant advantage. We’re looking for someone who can work independently, read the room well and strike the right balance between being part of the family team whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
The qualities we’re looking for are just as important as experience. Ideally, you’ll be:
* Warm, kind and nurturing.
* Calm, patient and emotionally intelligent.
* Proactive and able to use your own initiative.
* Organised and reliable.
* Passionate about child development and learning through play.
* Happy spending plenty of time outdoors and taking children on outings.
* Comfortable working collaboratively with a parent who is at home.
* Professional, trustworthy and respectful of our family’s privacy.
We’re hoping to find someone who is looking for a long-term role and who would enjoy becoming a trusted and valued part of our family over the coming years.
