Friendly Family Looking For An Experienced Nanny / Family Assistant (Live-Out, North London)
About Me
We are a kind, supportive and friendly family, located in North London (near Golders Hill Park), looking for a live-out, permanent nanny for two girls (one is 19 months old and one is 4 years old). Both attend a nursery across the road from our house, and the eldest girl is due to start at a local school in September 2026. We are looking for someone to build a strong, long-term relationship with our family. The ideal nanny will be caring, flexible, honest and pro-active, wanting to support our family with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude. We are looking for someone who is confident working independently and taking initiative, and who is organised, reliable and has good attention to detail.
Above all else, we are looking for someone who is excellent at engaging with children and putting their happiness and development first. With our eldest daughter starting school in September, we are looking for someone who will take an active interest in supporting and developing her love of learning. We would love someone who enjoys supporting early learning through play, reading and creative activities.
About the Children:
Our eldest daughter (4 years old) is bright, chatty and loves imagination play and reading. She is starting at a school in Hampstead in September this year. Our younger daughter (19 months) is very friendly, energetic and curious.
The Role:
Your main role will be to care for the children and take sole-charge of them. A typical day will involve school and nursery pick-ups, a short afternoon activity (e.g. after school club, park visit or playing at home), providing the children a healthy and nutritious supper, assisting with schoolwork, bath time and supporting the evening routine. When the children are at school/nursery you will be expected to use your time to undertake child-focused duties such as cooking (including twice weekly meals that are suitable for the whole family), doing the children’s laundry and ironing, changing their bedding and towels, tidying and maintaining their toys and books. We are looking for someone who is also happy to support the family with light household duties, such as running errands (e.g. to the post office or charity shop), loading and unloading the dishwasher, putting the bins out, managing the weekly food order, and assisting the parents to maintain a tidy and organised home. Please note that we do also employ a cleaner for two days a week and they are in charge of cleaning the house.
Salary: £19-£24 gross per hour (approx £15-£18 net per hour), depending on experience. Plus paid holiday entitlement and statutory benefits as applicable.
Hours: 37.5 to 45 per week, Monday to Friday, depending on the candidate (we are willing to consider two different options, as outlined below)
Option 1: 45 hours per week (split shift in the day)
- 7am to 9am to assist with getting the children ready and nursery/school drop-off
- 12.30pm to 7.30pm
Option 2: 37.5 to 40 hours per week
- 12pm to 7.30pm plus weekly babysitting night at 40 hours per week
In the school holidays, additional hours will be required (up to a max total of 50 hours per week), with a daily working pattern to accommodate full time childcare (8am to 6pm), excluding dates when the family is on holiday or where the children attend holiday camps. Any extra hours worked will be paid at your standard pay rate.
Location and Transport: Our nearest tube stations are Golders Green (10 minute walk) and Hampstead (15 minute walk) (northern line), and there is also a well serviced bus stop very close to the house.
What we are looking for:
- Relevant nanny/childcare experience, with strong experience caring for pre-school and primary-school children
- A warm, proactive, kind and reliable person
- Someone who enjoys planning creative, fun and educational activities
- Someone who enjoys cooking fresh, nutritious food
- Someone who is flexible and will help the parents keep a tidy and organised house
- Fluent English speaker
- Enhanced DBS checked (or willing to obtain)
- Paediatric First Aid trained
- A driver is a bonus but not essential for the role as we have good transport links
What we offer: A long-term, stable role in a kind, respectful and appreciative working environment with open communication.
Start Date: Flexible - Nanny should be in post no later than August 2026 (in time for the start of school in September)
