We are a friendly family living in Aberdare, South Wales, consisting of Mum, two teenage boys aged 14 and 15, and Luna, our lively English Springer Spaniel!
Family life is busy, and we’re looking for someone kind, reliable and responsible to join our household and provide some practical support. The boys are growing up, so this is an opportunity to support teenagers rather than provide full-time hands-on childcare. My younger son has additional support needs, so patience, understanding and a calm approach are important.
We can offer a comfortable live-in arrangement with your own double bedroom and private bathroom, meals provided and access to a bicycle. I’m looking for someone who enjoys family life, is confident around teenagers and loves dogs.
This is a paid position for approximately 22 hours per week, initially for 12–18 months, starting in November/December 2026. It could suit someone balancing other commitments, provided they can be flexible and dependable when support is needed.
I’m hoping to find the right person for a positive, respectful arrangement where expectations are clear and everyone feels comfortable.
My Requirements
I’m looking for a live-in family support and childcare assistant for approximately 22 paid hours per week.
The role includes:
* Caring for Luna, including walks, feeding, letting her outside and keeping her entertained.
* Preparing meals and helping with agreed household tasks, including cleaning.
* Supporting my two teenage boys when needed.
* Occasional agreed evening, overnight or weekend cover when I’m away for work or during school holidays.
Some weeks will be quieter than others, while others may require additional support at agreed times. Any working hours and arrangements will be discussed in advance, with clear expectations around availability and pay.
Essential requirements:
* Aged 18 or over with the legal right to work in the UK.
* A childcare qualification accepted for the Welsh nanny approval scheme, or a qualification that can be confirmed as meeting the relevant requirements.
* Willingness to meet the requirements for approval through the CIW Voluntary Approval Scheme for Home Childcare Providers.
* A suitable, current paediatric first-aid certificate and enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete the necessary requirements before undertaking unsupervised childcare.
* Comfortable and confident caring for a lively Springer Spaniel.
* Reliable, patient, organised and able to communicate well with teenagers.
Accommodation and pay:
A private double bedroom, your own bathroom, meals and access to a bicycle are provided alongside paid employment. Pay, working hours and accommodation arrangements will be discussed openly at interview.
