My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Niamh, a caring, dedicated, and experienced childcare worker with a strong background in supporting children of all ages, including those with additional needs. I’m passionate about creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and cognitively. I currently work as an Agency Childcare Support Worker in nurseries and as a Personal Care Assistant for a child with additional support needs and who is non verbal.
I have recently graduated from a BA (Hone) Psychology degree and I have almost four years of hands-on experience across various childcare settings from working with children with additional support needs to nurseries to out of school care. I have developed a flexible, person-centred approach to care. I tailor my support to meet each child’s individual needs, promoting their independence, confidence, and emotional regulation through child-led play and structured routines.
Building positive, trusting relationships with both children and families is at the heart of my work. I focus on fostering environments where children feel valued, supported, and safe. I’m also committed to inclusion, ensuring every child’s unique needs are met with empathy and respect.
In addition to my practical experience, I hold a BA (Hons) in Psychology, I am SSSC registered, and I have a PVG and I have a driving licence. I have completing training in Observation, Assessment and Planning in the Early Years (Scotland), Risk Assessing in Childcare Settings, Early Years Safe Sleep and Child Development - Birth to 5 years. I love working with children and I want to become a child/educational psychologist in future.
