Chelsie
Part Time Nanny with Special Needs Experience Job in London
About Me
A warm, welcoming family based in Chelsea is seeking an experienced, proactive Live-Out Nanny / Family Assistant to support their two children—a boy aged 13 (with ADHD) and a girl aged 10.
This is an informal yet busy household, so the ideal candidate will be adaptable, organised, and confident working within a real family environment while maintaining high standards of childcare, organisation, and discretion. The family values kindness, consistency, and a calm, positive approach.
This position is linked to a diplomatic posting and is expected to run until mid-2028, offering excellent stability for the right candidate.
My Requirements
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 4:00pm–8:00pm
Flexibility is required for up to two pre-arranged evenings per week to provide babysitting support or assist when the family is entertaining. On these evenings, overnight accommodation can be made available if preferred, although there is no expectation to stay.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare
- Provide warm, consistent, and nurturing after-school care for two children.
- Support one child with ADHD using a patient, calm, and encouraging approach.
- Prepare after-school snacks and supervise homework where required.
- Support with after-school activities, ensuring children are organised and prepared.
- Undertake evening childcare on agreed babysitting nights, including bedtime routines.
Household Support
A cleaner attends several days each week to undertake deep cleaning and most laundry. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day running of the household by:
- Carrying out a daily light reset of shared living spaces.
- Keeping the children's bedrooms and bathrooms tidy and organised.
- Resetting the kitchen after meals, including loading/unloading the dishwasher and taking out bins as required.
- Managing light laundry on days the cleaner is not present (e.g. sports kits and urgent items).
- Watering household plants.
Cooking
- Prepare simple, healthy family-style meals for the children and, when required, the family.
- Assist with or take responsibility for family dinners on occasion (the father enjoys cooking, so this is not required every evening).
- Ensure the kitchen is left clean and tidy after meal preparation.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be:
- Warm, kind, and emotionally intelligent.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and professional.
- Experienced in caring for school-aged children.
- Comfortable supporting a child with ADHD or other additional needs (previous SEN experience is advantageous but not essential).
- Organised, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Happy balancing childcare responsibilities with light family assistant duties.
- Flexible, discreet, and respectful of the family's privacy.
- Confident preparing simple, healthy home-cooked meals.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a personable, capable nanny who enjoys becoming part of a family's daily routine while maintaining professional boundaries. The family is looking for someone who can provide stability, warmth, and practical support throughout the remainder of their diplomatic posting.
