Jade
Babysitter in Cotham
My Summary
About Me
Hiya, I'm a 22 year old University of Bristol graduate with lots of experience caring for kids of varying needs and a trained safeguarder. I'm a big sister to my 11 year old brother and 13 year old sister and have volunteered/worked with kids for 9 years! I've recently finished my studies and will be working full time for the youth mental health foundation later this year so I'm looking for babysitting and childcare jobs in the meantime!
I'm reliable, energetic and a kid at heart, which is why I really enjoy working with kids and young people. I especially love crafts, outdoor adventures, animals and sports and I'm always eager to keep the kiddies engaged with fun activities. I'm happy to help with homework, meals and bedtimes if needed.
I'm based around Cotham and do not have a car but I'm willing to travel as far as public transport permits!
My Experience
My experience goes as follows:
- 9 years of leading mental health workshops and assemblies in primary schools
I have worked with the youth mental health foundation for many years, specifically working with primary and early secondary aged children. This is also where I've gained lots of experience working with kids with additional needs.
- Volunteering at my local youth club
This is where I gained my experience working with older tweens and teens
- Genuis summer school leader
I co-led a summer program in my local town that helped young people aged 7-14 identify their passions and make a difference for their chosen cause
- Two summers as a bunk mum in an American summer camp
Quite likely my most qualifying childcare experience. For two summers I worked as a camp counsellor for 7-9 year old girls. For two months at a time, I lived in-bunk with twelve 7-9 year old girls where I was in charge of getting them up and ready in the morning, ensuring they were fed and clean, keeping the living space tidy and putting them to bed on time. During the collective 4 months I had this job, I dealt with more throw up, tears and tantrums than I care to admit and came away with endless patience, a good sense of humor and the ability to handle just about anything a child can throw at me (sometimes quite literally). Despite the intensity of my role as a camp counsellor, I returned the next summer and I'll miss it forever.
- Adventure team specialist
I co-led skateboard and rollerblade sessions for kids aged 5-11
- Standard babysitting
My Qualifications
Although I don't hold formal childcare qualifications, I have lots of hands-on experience caring for children of varying ages with different needs and in a variety of settings. I also hold an enhanced DBS check and have completed safeguarding training, so I'm confident in providing a safe, responsible and supportive environment for children.
