About Me
Hello, we (Jane and Katie) are mother and daughter childminders in Woodthorpe.
We live at home together with our little dog Dougal, who is a Poodle x Bichon Frisé. He has a lovely temperament and loves spending time with the children, he’s also hypoallergenic so great for any children with allergies.
We have really enjoyed setting up our own business from home and creating one big family with all the children who come to join us. We love to go out and about most days, learning and exploring as we go, with the children.
My Experience
Jane - I never really knew what I wanted to do as a job, I was a Mortgage Advisor for many years and then I worked in Retail. When I had my children I took some time out of work as my son was Autistic and needed that extra support and guidance. Once my children had grown up and left school I decided I really wanted to return to childcare. I worked at a local Infants School for 5 years helping out in the classroom, at lunchtimes and After School Clubs. I really enjoyed this job and knew I had a passion for working with children and helping those who needed extra support. A job was available working along side my Daughter at another childminders so I joined her there and instantly fell in love with the job. We decided it would be a wonderful opportunity for us to set up from our home.
Katie - From a young age I and everyone around me always knew I would work with children. As a child I was always playing with dolls and I had a real passion for younger children and caring for them.
Once I had left school I got a job with my mum at the local Infants School as a Midday Supervisor and helping out at After School Club.
Along side this I got an Apprenticeship working towards my Level 2 in Childcare at a Childminding setting as a Childminding Assistant.
I absolutely adored my job and it really inspired me to become a childminder myself.
My Qualifications
Katie holds a level 2 in childcare.
We both hold certificates for Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding level 2
