Registered Childminder Job in Milton Keynes
About Me
We live in bletchley. I (mum) work full time with the ambulance service. Dad is the stay at home parent to our 7yo son and 3.5yo daughter, so he doesn't get much time to himself.
Our son is a typical boy, likes to be doing things, playing with friends, being outside and including his sister in whatever he does.
Our daughter is a happy, smart, funny, caring little girl. She loves her baby and playing tea parties with her dolls and teddies. She likes to play with kinetic sand and playdoh, drawing and colouring, and pretending to be a doctor.
She is very sociable and likes to play with others, though she can take a short time to adjust to loud noisy settings.
She also has a tablet that she navigates herself, playing games, watching TV, and also calling her brother on alexa to have silly chats.
At home she does have a standing frame and a walking frame we use during the day to help her practice to stand and walk independently. The walker can be taken to a care setting should there be enough available space, but isn't essential if space is limited. It is like a mini zimma frame style.
Just to clarify - Riley is able to walk, independently for short distances, much further if holding onto furniture or someone's hands (mainly for balance). She is able to navigate flat surfaces and uneven ground outside, and go up and down a few steps.
She can pull herself up to standing and can stand for play as long as she chooses to. She is also very fast at crawling, and can get herself up and down a full flight of stairs on hands and knees.
She understands more language than she is able to say herself. She can respond in short sentences of around 5 words, though is typically classed as behind on her communication. But if you ask her a question she mainly responds appropriately (umless she chooses to avoid the question), and can ask for things and tell you things.
My Requirements
Riley has been with a child minder for the past year but they have just given their notice, and we need to find a new setting for her. She loves to be with kids, and loves having the routine. She really gets excited to go to 'school' so we really want to find her somewhere else as soon as possible.
Our daughter was born 11/2022 with low level spina bifida and hydrocephalus. This normally scares people off, but she is very independent and can communicate. She is determined and resilient, and very strong.
We are flexible with days and times as this is for her, not for us. We would prefer 4 or 5 days a week for about 3-4 hours to start but again we are flexible to whatever works best for her.
She is a happy little girl, very interested in the world and is always in the go. She wears AFOs on her feet during the day to stabilise her ankles as she only has partial movement in her feet, but this doesn't affect her getting around (as above)
Riley is under speech and Language Therapy, and they are happy with her progress. Since starting with a childminder last year her communication has really come on in leaps and bounds.
She loves being outside, playing with water, drawing and colouring, or playing with building blocks. She likes to stick things up or move small toys from one container to another. Loves to throw balls around and is getting quite good at it.
She has weaned herself off of naps, however if she has been busy she may put herself down for a nap. She has her blanket and dummy she will ask for if she is tired for comfort.
She does require intermittent catheterisation every 4-5 hours for bladder safeguarding against infection, but we can manage that before/after setting sessions. She does wee by herself, but we don't know yet if she fully empties her bladder, hence the catheters. We can also arrange training for any childcare settings that are willing to learn if she progresses to longer care sessions(over 5hrs a day), or we can make arrangements for someone to attend to do it if necessary.
We don't have fixed days or times in mind for the childcare sessions. We do have to get out son to and from school in Bletchley, but we can make arrangements with family to potentially help us get both children to their places if the times clash.
