My Summary
About Me
I am currently studying sociology at Newcastle university, and I am looking for a summer role working with children. I’m a fun, friendly and outgoing person who really enjoys spending time with kids and creating a positive, happy and safe environment for them. I’d describe myself as patient, caring and reliable, and I love getting involved in creative and active activities. I’m always happy to adapt to each child’s personality and needs to ensure they feel comfortable and supported.
My Experience
I have a range of experience working with children in both school and home environments. I previously worked at Notting Hill Preparatory school as a gap assistant for a term. During this role, I supported children of various ages throughout the school day, including helping with reading, accompanying them to lessons and sports activities, and getting involved in classroom tasks. I was there to provide both academic and emotional support, whether that meant helping them with their learning or being someone they could go to if they felt upset or needed reassurance. Alongside this, When I was a student at school I volunteered once a week as a teaching assistant at St Benedict’s and St Hilda’s primary schools, where I helped monitor the children and supported teachers in managing the classroom. In addition I have worked as a mother’s helper for a family with two children under the age of 9, and also for a grandmother looking after their 6 month old grandson. In both of these roles, I assisted with daily routines, helped keep the children engaged by taking them on walks, playing games etc and changing nappy’s/ feeding them and provided general support where needed. These experiences have really helped me to develop patience, strong communication skills, and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment for children. I am attentive to all aspects of their needs, whether academic or emotional, and I aim to be someone they feel happy and comfortable around.
