My Experience

I have years of experience working as a nanny, working with 4-5 families of up to 5 children of all ages. This was both during the day and night, including transporting children to school, appointments etc. I then moved into a social work position within the crisis child protection framework, I was responsible for taking on several different roles specifically with Indigenous families and children. I took referrals for high-risk children from DCJ and work in counselling, Intensive Family Support (IFS), mentoring, contact supervision and Family Group Conferencing (FGC) across New South Wales, Australia. Drawing upon a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive framework, we offer an alternative to government DCJ child protection interventions by working with families in a culturally appropriate way – ensuring that relationship building, and transparency are key aspects of our model of work.
