About Me
We’re a lively, loving British family of five living in a beautiful countryside village just outside Durham. Life here moves fast — and so do we. We run our own businesses, juggle three kids, and somehow still manage to eat dinner together most nights. Our home is warm, emotionally open, and filled with personality (and yes, a fair bit of noise).
The eldest is our 13-year-old daughter — a creative powerhouse and national-level karting driver with serious ambition. She trains like a pro and dreams big. Then there’s our nearly-two-year-old daughter — bold, hilarious, and full of spark. She lives to dance, giggle, and cause mischief. And finally, our baby boy, five months old and already watching the madness unfold with wide eyes and a quiet charm.
We’re not hiring help — we’re welcoming someone into our family. Someone emotionally intelligent, adaptable, and confident enough to step in, take charge, and muck in. We’ve got high standards — not in a scary way, just in a “we’re building something really special here and need the right person by our side” kind of way.
If you're warm but no pushover, playful but grounded, and can see the joy in structured chaos, you’ll fit right in. And if you happen to love (or want to learn about) motorsport? Even better.
My Requirements
This full-time, live-in role focuses primarily on our toddler daughter and baby boy, though it also includes responsibility for our eldest — a confident, home-schooled (via online learning platform), independent 13-year-old who is a talented and ambitious motorsport athlete competing nationally. She's also fantastic company with a wicked sense of humour.
While our teen is largely self-sufficient, we’re looking for someone who will include her warmly, support her with gentle supervision, prompts, and encouragement, and be present for shared activities like cooking dinner, baking up a storm (a favourite!), and keeping on top of her social calendar. She doesn’t need hands-on care in the traditional sense — but she does need to feel included, noticed, and supported as she really values connection. And help surrounding her time management would be brilliant!
We love a nanny who’s happy to muck in, but the children’s emotional and physical needs being consistently and lovingly met is absolutely the priority.
Key responsibilities include:
Creating and leading engaging, developmentally appropriate activities
Supporting our toddler’s love for books, crafts, dancing, singing, swimming, and water play — she’s a true water baby with energy and joy to match
Nurturing calm, connected routines around naps, meals, and play
Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the children
Keeping the children's bedrooms, playroom, and bathroom clean, tidy, and organised
Providing gentle, responsive care to our baby boy as he becomes increasingly mobile
Including the eldest in daily life with care and consideration, even if the level of involvement is different
The role includes:
Babysitting twice per week, usually until 11:00 PM at the latest
Proxy parenting once per month, overnight mid-week
Anything beyond this is always agreed in advance and paid as overtime
We’re looking for someone calm, emotionally intelligent, grounded, and proactive — someone who brings warmth, capability, and kindness into our home every day.
