My Summary
Kohl's Little Learners- Learning Through Play Everyday; Inspiring Curiosity From The Start!
About Me
I am a warm, caring and dedicated childcare professional with a genuine passion for creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel valued, secure and supported. I believe that children thrive when they are given the confidence, encouragement and freedom to explore, play, learn and develop at their own pace.
I live with my loving and supportive family, including my husband and our two sons, aged 13 and 9. Being a parent myself has given me a deeper understanding of the importance of providing children with not only good care, but also patience, understanding, encouragement and a strong sense of security.
My childcare practice is also enriched by 16 years of academic experience as a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education. Throughout my academic career, I have developed a strong understanding of educational and pedagogical approaches, as well as the importance of meaningful early learning experiences in shaping a child’s future development. I strongly believe that the foundations built during the early years can have a lasting impact on a child’s confidence, independence, curiosity, learning and future educational journey.
My aim is to create a nurturing bridge between home and nursery, providing children with a warm and homely environment where they feel comfortable, confident and happy. Through a balance of play, care, exploration and age-appropriate learning opportunities, I encourage children to develop their curiosity, creativity, communication skills and independence.
I recognise that every child is unique, with their own personality, interests, strengths and individual needs. I therefore take a child-centered approach, getting to know each child and tailoring activities and experiences to support their individual development. I want children in my care to feel listened to, respected and encouraged, while having plenty of opportunities to have fun and simply enjoy being children.
As a childcare provider, I understand the trust parents place in me when they leave their child in my care. Building a positive and open relationship with parents is very important to me, and I aim to work closely with families to ensure that children receive consistent, caring and supportive experiences between home and childcare.
Ofsted Registered: I have successfully completed my Ofsted registration and hold an Ofsted Certificate of Registration.
My Experience
I bring a wealth of experience from the UK education sector, where I have worked since 2009 in roles including Senior Lecturer and Head of Department. In these roles, I have developed engaging learning materials, planned structured activities, and created supportive environments that help learners thrive and reach their full potential.
I have extensive experience in assessing progress and providing constructive, encouraging feedback, which supports confidence-building and continuous development. My role also involved pastoral care, where I supported students’ well-being, helping them navigate challenges and develop both personally and academically.
I have worked closely with learners at different stages, including those training within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), giving me a strong understanding of child development, learning through play, and the importance of a nurturing environment.
Alongside my professional experience, I am also a mother to two boys (aged 8 and 12). This has given me invaluable hands-on experience in caring for children, understanding their individual needs, and supporting their growth in a loving, structured, and balanced home environment.
I combine my professional knowledge with real-life parenting experience to provide a caring, organised, and engaging setting where children feel safe, happy, and supported.
