My Summary

My Experience

As I grew up, my mum had to work a lot and my brother moved out. I am older than my sister by 9 years, and growing up I played a big role towards helping to raise her. She has both autism and ADHD, which has taught me lots about the importance of patience and emotional awareness, and how to support people with additional sensory needs. I often took on tasks such as getting her ready in the mornings, taking her to school, making sure she had completed her homework, playing games with her, cooking for her and putting her to bed; all in the routine that worked for her, as she taught me that routines can be really beneficial and it’s important to find what’s right for her specifically.

While supporting my sister, I regularly babysat two girls (aged 8 and 12) over the course of around 6/7 months. During this, I sat with them and talked more than played games, since they were more interested in talking, I made sure they both went to bed on time, and made sure they had a suitable dinner that they enjoyed.

My Qualifications

I have a qualification in Professional Cookery, and a food hygiene certificate.
