My Requirements

I’m a mum of two lovely children, aged 5 and 6, and I’m looking for a kind, patient and reliable person to support our family on a part-time and flexible basis initially, with the possibility of increasing to more regular/full-time hours if we’re a good fit.

My daughter, is 6 and autistic. She is non-verbal and has significant developmental and sensory needs, so she requires close 1:1 supervision. She communicates through gestures, hand-leading and visual/simple communication. She can become overwhelmed by transitions and busy environments and has limited awareness of danger, so I need someone who is calm, attentive and confident supporting a child with additional needs. Experience with autism/SEND would be a big advantage, although the right personality, patience and willingness to learn are equally important.

My son, is nearly 5 and is much more independent. He is a sweet, sociable and sensitive little boy who enjoys talking, playing, drawing and interacting with people. He can sometimes become overwhelmed or emotional, so someone patient, reassuring and good at communicating with young children would suit him well.

I particularly need help with school pick-ups/drop-offs, after-school care and occasional additional hours, so I would strongly prefer someone who drives, has a full driving licence and their own reliable car. Flexibility is important because the children’s schedules and my university/work commitments can vary.

English is essential. Spanish would be a wonderful bonus as my children are British-Spanish and I would love them to have more Spanish naturally incorporated into their everyday lives, but Spanish is absolutely not compulsory.

Most importantly, I’m looking for someone who is warm, trustworthy, dependable and genuinely enjoys being around children. I would love to find someone who can build a real relationship with the kids and, if everything works well for everyone, become a consistent and long-term part of our family’s routine.

Requirements/preferences: appropriate childcare registration where applicable, current DBS, references, experience with children, confident driver, and ideally SEND/autism experience.
