About Me
Hello, my name is Emily and I am 23 years old. I'm from Leeds originally although have lived in the York area for the past 5 years. I hold a BSc in Psychology and I am currently finishing my MSc in Development, Disorders and Clinical Practice. I work currently in the mental health sphere, specifically in adult mental health, acquired brain injury and autism spectrum disorder. As well as this I waitress part-time, usually on weekends.
In my spare time I am a sociable person, so I enjoy spending time with my friends, cooking, going to the gym and watching the football (especially Leeds United)!
My Experience
I am currently completing my MSc degree in Development, Disorder, and Clinical Practice at the University of York, so have an understanding in child and adolescent development and hope one day to work in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. During my studies I have completed work experience volunteering as a classroom assistant, which additionally has involved working with children who have been directly supported under CAMHS.
On a personal level, I have grown up with a younger sibling who is diagnosed with non-verbal autism spectrum disorder, which has given me meaningful, hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs with empathy and patience. I'm passionate about working with children and young people - I'm committed to creating a safe, supportive and engaging environment for children to thrive and enjoy being children!
My Qualifications
I hold a BSc in Psychology from the University of York and I'm currently in the process of completing my MSc in Development, Disorders, and Clinical Practice. Through my job I have completed safeguarding training for adults, children and young people, as well as basic life support training.
My Availability
I currently waitress on a part-time basis also, so my availability will fluctuate due to this, although I receive 2 weeks of notice for this.
