Hello! My name is Shumana and I am an Ofsted-registered childminder with a genuine passion for working with children. I have been working in the childcare industry since 2018 and over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of supporting many families in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for their little ones.
I offer a home-from-home setting where children feel secure, valued, and happy. My approach is child-centered, with a strong emphasis on learning through play, creativity, and exploration. I follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework to support each child’s individual development and help them reach key milestones at their own pace.
My Experience
I’ve been working as a childminder since 2018, caring for children of all ages – from babies and toddlers to preschoolers and school-aged children. I adapt my approach to each child’s stage of development, offering a warm, structured environment where they feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow.
With babies, I follow their individual routines and support their early milestones through gentle care and sensory play. For toddlers, I encourage independence, social skills, and learning through fun activities. My preschool care focuses on early learning and school readiness, following the EYFS framework.
I also offer babysitting services for several families, many of whom have been with me for years. This includes evening and weekend care, holiday cover, and one-off bookings, giving parents peace of mind knowing their children are in trusted hands.
My Qualifications
I am fully qualified and committed to ongoing professional development. I hold a Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young People's Workforce, along with Level 2 Child Protection training and Paediatric First Aid certification. I have also completed training in British Sign Language (BSL), Level 2 Allergy Awareness, and Food Safety & Hygiene.
In addition, I am trained in Safeguarding, including Prevent Duty, Prevent Referrals, and FGM Awareness
My Availability
I currently offer term-time only care (38 weeks per year), Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm. While my main service runs during school terms, I do occasionally provide cover during school holidays depending on availability. I aim to be as flexible as possible to support working families and always communicate clearly about any additional care I can offer outside of term time.
