About Me
We’re a warm, friendly family based in the Brighton area. I’m Nicki, a part-time art teacher who enjoys running, sea swims, and attending a local printmaking class when I can. My husband, Mark, works part-time in a local school with our therapy dogs, supporting children who need a little extra nurture. In his free time, he enjoys walking the dogs along the seafront and riding his motorbike.
We have two fun, brilliant teenage boys, aged 17 and 14. They both have learning disabilities and some additional health needs but are affectionate, sociable, and enjoy spending time with kind, patient people. They love gaming, cinema trips, trains, and creative activities.
As a family, we’re caring and welcoming, and we’re looking for someone understanding and trustworthy to join our small support network.
My Requirements
I'm looking for a Babysitter, Male Nanny or Special Needs Experience. We’re looking for one or two reliable, compassionate people with experience supporting children or teenagers with special needs.
We need help with:
• Occasional evening support so we can have short breaks
• Daytime help during school holidays (approx. 10–15 hours per week)
• Taking the boys out locally for calm, enjoyable activities (cinema, short walks, creative activities)
• Encouraging positive social interaction and reducing screen time
• Light help with meals/snacks.
You would suit us if you are:
• Patient, caring, and understanding of young people with additional needs
• Comfortable with some health needs (experience with epilepsy or complex health is helpful but not essential)
• Happy around friendly dogs
• A driver would be helpful but not essential
We’re especially keen to find someone who can bring calm, positivity, and a sense of fun to our boys’ lives while giving us as parents a little breathing space.
