About Me

Hello! I’m an Ofsted-registered childminder based in Lyneham, and a mummy to three wonderful children aged 9, 3 and 1. We’re also a busy household with two cats, Brian and Popcorn — and yes, the children definitely chose their names!?

At Bright Beginnings Lyneham, my philosophy is centred around learning through play. I’m particularly inspired by the Hygge in the Early Years approach and Montessori principles, creating a warm, calm and nurturing environment where children feel happy, secure and confident to explore.

Learning Outdoors:

We spend lots of time outdoors, with daily opportunities to play and learn in the garden, alongside regular outings and adventures. These might include visits to farm parks and splash pads, country and forest walks, local parks and other places within our community.

I strongly believe that children learn through real-life experiences, exploration and curiosity, and whenever possible, we’d rather be learning outdoors than sitting inside!

Process Over Product:

One of the principles that is particularly important to me is ‘process over product’.

This means that your child may not always come home with a picture-perfect piece of artwork — but they will have gained so much more from the experience. Whether they are developing their fine motor skills, exploring textures, building confidence, making choices, developing language or simply enjoying the process of creating, the learning is in the experience, not the finished product.

Supporting Every Child:

Every child is unique, and I believe their individual needs, interests and personalities should be embraced.

My eldest child is autistic and has ADHD, which has given me valuable personal experience of supporting neurodivergent needs, as well as developing a great deal of understanding, patience and empathy. I aim to create an inclusive environment where every child feels accepted, understood and able to thrive.

Nutritious, Home-Cooked Food:

I’m also happy to provide three home-cooked meals a day, with nutritious, balanced and tasty food prepared as part of the setting.

I have experience accommodating allergies and dietary requirements, including dairy intolerance within my own family, and understand the importance of ensuring children’s individual dietary needs are carefully considered.

Above all, I want Bright Beginnings Lyneham to feel like a home-from-home — a place where children can feel safe, happy and loved, while having the freedom to play, explore, learn and simply enjoy being children.
