Sue
Nanny in Coleford (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
Nurse-Qualified Nanny & Babysitter — Nneb & Paediatric First Aid — Coleford / Forest Of Dean
About Me
Hi, I'm Sue — a nurse-qualified, NNEB-trained nanny and babysitter based near Coleford in the Forest of Dean.
I bring two careers together. I trained as a nursery nurse (NNEB) and then spent 25 years as a registered nurse in the NHS. That means alongside everyday childcare, I stay calm and capable if a child is unwell or anxious — and I'm equally happy with little ones or a houseful of children of different ages. Most recently I supported a family through the end of pregnancy and the first weeks with their new baby as a mother's help.
Parents tell me their children settle with me quickly — I'm patient with the quieter ones and happy to keep up with the lively ones.
My Experience
I'm fully set up for professional childcare: enhanced DBS, current paediatric first aid, and my own car with business insurance for childcare.
I love the outdoors. In my spare time I walk in the Forest and take nature photographs, so days with me usually mean fresh air and adventures rather than screens.
My Qualifications

Sue has been an amazing help to our little family. We have one 2 year old boy who was comfortable with her straight away. Sue is friendly, engaging and clearly loves caring for children. She interacts with our boy in a fair and fun way and he is happy in her care.
Having to find a babysitter for the first time was a little daunting for us but Sue has quickly put us at ease. She visited our home and spent some time with us as a family before childminding our boy. She is flexible, trustworthy, and a genuinely nice lady.

Sue was immediately warm, friendly and playful with the kids. Had an activity she pre-planned with me, so they would be happily distracted about us going out, Sue also suggested arriving a bit earlier, to get more time with the kids to build rapport before doing bedtime with them, which worked so well! The kids really enjoyed their time with her, and said they even preferred her to our regular babysitter back home 🧡 my son was quite tricky at bedtime, but Sue handled it well, and got them to sleep 😴

Sue looked after 4 children for us during a wedding. They are 1, 2, 3 and 4 so no mean feat, but she was utterly in control the whole time.
They had a fantastic time, even asking before bed if Sue was coming back tomorrow!
I would not hesitate to recommend her to others.

Sue has babysat for our children several times, both on her own and as part of larger groups with multiple children ranging from 1-8 and we have always felt they were in very safe hands. She is responsible and thoughtful, asking all the right questions and making sure she understands every detail. She has a wonderful way with very different personalities, equally able to engage our chatty daughter and connect calmly with our more reserved son, both of whom are relaxed and happy in her company. She is warm, conscientious, and completely trustworthy, and we would recommend her wholeheartedly to any (lucky!) family.

Sue has looked after my kids (12, 10 & 18 months) multiple times over the last few years and the eldest two always ask when she’ll be back again! Completely trustworthy and always feel comfortable leaving the children with her knowing their needs will be met and should the worst happen she has ample experience to handle any issues that might come her way. Cannot recommend her services highly enough and she always goes above and beyond.

Sue cared for our young children over a three-month period during a significant time in our lives. As I, was recovering from childbirth and adjusting to life with a newborn, Sue was a steady, supportive presence.
She was extremely flexible, always adapting to our changing needs and schedules without hesitation. We often relied on her to juggle different tasks, and she did so with a cheerful and positive attitude. She was never afraid of hard work, always punctual, communicative, and kept us informed at every step.
When taking care of my son what I appreciated most was her thoughtfulness in tailoring activities to his interests. She took him on enriching outings to the park, the library, and a variety of activities that kept him engaged. She also helped with his meals when needed, always with care.
I would absolutely recommend Sue as a nanny and babysitter; she was a wonderful help during a critical transition, and I am grateful for her dedication and care.

Sue has provided adhoc childcare for my 6 year old girl and now my 1 year old boy for the last 5 years. This has included day trips, school pick ups, mealtimes, homework and bath/bedtime routines.
I have always found Sue to be a wonderfully warm person with genuine interest and affection for my children.
She is always willing to get down and play with the children at any age. She is gentle but firm when it comes to discipline and manners which is important to me.
More recently she has provided babysitting for my 10 and 12 year old step children also, she manages all four children together calmly and with a sense of fun.
I would highly recommend Sue for any Nannying or babysitting needs
