My name is Amelie, I’m 20 years old (soon to be 21), I’m the oldest of my family with a younger sister and brother and originally from Brighton. I am a student going into my second year of Falmouth University, studying Film BA. When I’m not at university or studying you can normally find me in the kitchen cooking or baking, dancing and singing to my music or relaxing with a book in the sun. I love doing physical activity outside whether that be going on a run or doing yoga and pilates with my friends. I love travelling, I’ve explored many European countries including France, Switzerland and Italy. Over the past two years I’ve spent my summers in America working at an overnight summer camp where I worked with children aged 5-17 for nine weeks.
My Experience
Being the oldest of my family, I was often helping my parents with my brother and sister. When I turned 16 I was able to babysit them as well as being trusted to babysit for family friends. For the last two summers on a J1 Visa I have worked at an overnight summer camp in America. Where I was a general counsellor for both girls and boys aged 5-17. I was there to insure the safety and wellbeing of the 12 children I had under my care at a time, provide emotional support, plan and lead activities, manage and supervise daily routines and tasks. As well as communicating with my co-counsellors, demonstrating leadership and role model behaviour, problem solving and conflict resolutions. Learning to adapt quickly and efficiently due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather.
My Qualifications
I have a DBS check for my summer job but I do not have any official childcare qualifications.
My Availability
Being a student means that my availability is often changing however I know for certain that I will be available weekends and most evenings. I am yet to receive my timetable for the term but I will update as soon as I receive it.
