About Me
I have two children, a 13 year old girl and 6 year old boy. My daughter is fairly independent and doesn’t need extra support with care etc, though she will definitely ask you about your political opinions. My son is autistic and requires extra support/supervision with basic needs and activities, including toileting, getting clothes on/off and encouragement to use cutlery to eat certain foods. Despite his extra needs, he is mostly very easy to manage, and has a happy demeanour. His speech is coming along day by day, as is his understanding of requests etc.
I am a full time student midwife looking for support for my son so I can improve my university attendance and attend my shifts when on placement. I share custody of both children with my ex, and my days needing help would be an irregular pattern depending on what shifts I’m required to work and what days my ex has the children.
My son attends a special needs school and has transport arranged to take him to and from school, but having someone home with him before and after school until I’m home would be needed on some days. I would sometimes need cover for a day on the weekend if required to work, but as I am a student I am able to be flexible with my hours.
I have a cat at home who keeps to herself as she is quite anxious of new people.
My Requirements
At-home care for my autistic son before and after school, transport is arranged to take him to and from school so school runs not necessary. Occasional weekends with a full day. Special needs experience required as son is autistic, mostly non-verbal. Not necessarily looking for household help with chores etc. but not against it either! Just need someone trustworthy and patient who can look after my son for me so I can attend my university course as much as possible.
